“I‘m looking at a life unfold. Dreaming of the green and gold. Just like the ancient stone. Every sunrise I know.” I woke up in Luxembourg, overlooking the hills filled with fresh green vineyard and some cows. Beautiful roads that lead to beautiful destinations. Life is good here. Luxembourg is the land of colorful houses, green hills, vineyards, and peaceful Moselle. A few weeks ago Thomas and I planned a spontaneous trip to Luxembourg with friends. Ever since I visited the capital town of Luxembourg a few years ago, which is also called Luxembourg, I knew I wanted to come back for more. We had a heatwave in Juli in the Netherlands. So spending a few days around The Moselle sounded so inviting. We found this perfect little hotel located at The Moselle, surrounded by beautiful green hills and vineyards. So romance was all over the place. Let me take you to Luxembourg.
Sleeping at the Moselle in Luxembourg
Luxembourg is great for road trips. It’s a beautiful country to drive through and there is enough to see. Luxembourg is also very clean, sustainable and they care a lot about the environment. So I was in a happy place. If you are planning on visiting Luxembourg make sure you either rent a car or drive down there by yourself. The views will not disappoint you, I promise.
This hotel is located in Stadtbredimus, a small town just outside Luxembourg City, which is one of my favorite European cities. It’s such a beautiful and romantic city! So, of course, we planned a day trip to the city center. We also spend a day in Trier, Germany. The oldest town in Germany. Which is also close to Stadtbredimus, and an absolute must visit when you are in the area. And I will show you around soon.
-Hotel de l’Ecluse Superior-
We slept in the most comfortable bed and woke up by this stunning view over the hills. I always loved mountains, but since we hardly have them in the northern parts of Europe these hills do just fine. It’s a nice change of scenery. And what a great way to start your day. Breakfast is served on the first floor and once you fill your plate with the most delicious pieces of bread, granola’s or fruits you get to enjoy your (champagne) breakfast outside.
This area is known for its own wines and champagnes, but because they do not have the right to call their sparkling wine champagne, they serve you crémant. But I assure you, they are just as good.
The rooms have a touch of minimalism, made out of wood and concrete. This gives it a great vibe and it is very unique for Luxembourg because most hotels have a more traditional touch. The bathroom is a highlight of the room because it is completely made out of glass. So you might want to be picky about who to bring on this trip. It’s not completely transparent, but you’ll probably get an idea about where I’m talking about. It’s good for romance, that’s all I’m saying haha!

– Weekend Getaway –
Those weekend getaways always bring out the best in me. They are perfect to clear your head. And even if you stay away for one or two nights, it’s enough to relax and recharge. New environments bring new ideas and they tickle the brain. So it’s not just the wanderlust in me that gets benefits from a spontaneous little trip. And when I think about that, it makes me so happy that I live in Europe and that there is always another country awaiting. The only thing you have to do is fuel your car or book a plane/train ticket and you are good to go.
I also picked up a new camera on our way to Luxembourg. And it was so much fun figuring out this new camera in a different country. I just had to figure out how it works, straight away. And I’m so happy with the results. Pictures always seem to keep my memories alive, and I just love to relive them. And I am probably not the only one. So please do tell me about your favorite travel memories in the comment section down below. I would love to hear more about it!
In another blogpost, I will take you downtown. Because Luxembourg, as little as it is, has so much to offer. The buildings come straight from a fairytale and have this unique feeling Paris gives me as well. But less crowded. Even at the weekends. So that’s why I will always choose Luxembourg over Paris. Not even going to lie about that. It’s great for shopping, the city center has a variety of shops, malls, and brands. Cozy restaurants and cute bakeries. But, as I told you before, I will show you around soon.
Have you ever been to Luxembourg?
