Micro Trips – Travel Trend of 2019
While micro trips are all over the internet because it’s thé travel trend of 2018 and 2019, I am not new to this way of traveling at all. While most American’s search for cheap flights and hotels, months before departure so you can get the best deals. I mostly travel spontaneously. Maybe it’s because I live in Europe and it is very easy to get from A. to B., or maybe because my wanderlust is all over the place, but I have been making these micro trips for years now. They basically are 2 or 3-day trips. There is just something about these spontaneous trips, I absolutely love them.
I don’t think that Micro Travel is very sustainable when it comes to booking flights. But these micro trips are perfect for a little getaway combined with a small road trip or a train ride. Or any public transport you prefer. I live in the center of Holland and it will only take me one hour to fly to London, two hours to get to Lille by train or car, three hours if I want to visit Luxembourg city, a few hours to get to a beautiful German city and 6 to get to Paris.
Micro Trips are perfect little getaways, but they are exhausting too. So make sure that after the hunt for a perfect location and accommodation, you’ll get plenty of rest. Because you are going to need it. These trips are intense but totally worth it. Besides that, make sure to travel light and to make some sort of plan of what you want to do and see. Or do you just need a 48-hour break from everything, make sure to pack a book and a bikini as well. You deserve a small break.
And while you are planning your perfect (maybe even a romantic) little getaway, make sure to keep a beautiful part of your own country in mind. Because there is still lots to discover in your own country, or maybe even your home town. I love to be a tourist in my own city, especially because I live in the countryside. Can you believe I took this picture just outside my house? Daydreaming about all the trips I want to make, any suggestions?
