Chá Gorreana Tea Factory & plantation at Saõ Miguel
Nature has always amazed me. It’s beauty in a very pure form, it’s exciting and calming at the same time. I especially love to be in a tropical environment. It feels like I was made to live in these warm climates because that is where I truly feel at my best and most alive. There is just something about these tropical green and vibrant colors and the beautiful landscapes and views that come along with them. They are like paintings that come alive.
Ever since I was a young girl I thought that it would at least take me a long intercontinental to take me to such beauty. But what if I told you that there is this type of beauty, and it’s only a charter flight away?
The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands, located in the North Atlantic Ocean. Saõ Miguel is the biggest island of all nine and a true hidden gem. Since the charter flights only started to fly directly to The Azores, from Europe and America as well, only a few years ago, the mass-tourism is nowhere to be found. It’s just you and these amazing views.
If you are planning to visit the Azores make sure to take enough time to discover the beauty of Saõ Miguel. It is very tempting to visit the highlights of the islands in a few days, just to check them off your list. We spend 11 days on Saõ Miguel and we didn’t get bored at all. And had enough time to get to know the culture and the island, to soak it all in.
The weather can be quite tricky at the islands so it’s important to plan your activities day by day. One of the highlights is the Chá Gorreana Tea Factory and the Chá Gorreana plantation. And I highly recommend doing the hike as well. Take some food with you and a water bottle because it’s quite a trip. But the views will be worth it. Mark my words.
Have you ever been to the Azores?
